A journey on Gold & Jade Street
On March 20, a clear and cloudless afternoon, we arrived at Xining's South Gate Street. This is a Xining's famous street, which is called Gold & Jade Street, sells the jewelry with about 36 shops. We visited a shop here called Exquisite Jade, and it is said the biggest Kunlun jade company. As soon as we go in, the bright jade displayed in the counter is very attractive, with colors as the soy-and-sugar sauce, white, bluish white, green, smoky green, etc. There is everything you expect to find. A kind of rare Kunlun Mountains jade called the violet jade, has no comparable variety in other jade. The salesperson told us that a little piece of violet jade was worth several hundred thousand Yuans and the jade was very precious, because it was non-renewable mineral resource, therefore we must treasure it. She added the Kunlun Mountains jade was famous because of the Olympic Games, afterward, she led us to the Kunlun Jade counter in which Olympic Games medal Jade were laid. What a spectacle! At the beginning stage of the project, we have already learned the related knowledge about jade, I expect, in later study, we will be able to understand it deeply, to approach it, the Kunlun Mountain Spirit.

Kunlun Jade on Olympic Medals
Everybody knows the Kunlun Jade, the jade on the Olympic medals. why the Kunlun Jade is selected for Olympic medals is based on the reasons that the Kunlun Jade has the oil-length, and that it is one of four Chinese famous jades. It rises to fame swiftly because it is embedded on Olympic medals, on the one hand it manifests Chinese jade culture. Look! In my hand is the Olympic medal jade-the spirit of Kunlun Mountains. When I am holding it, I’m really scared, for fear that it might be thrown down and broken, but I am also proud, because the jade is produced from Qinghai Kunlun Mountains and is our local pride.
