盐，不仅是人们日常生活中不可缺少的调味品，而且是维持人体正常新陈代谢的重要物质之一。对于盐的用途，人们一般只局限于食盐的调味认识，而对它的其他用途还认识不够，为此，本人用访问调查和查阅资料的方法，对盐的各种用途进行研究。
Salt is not only the indispensable condiment for people’s daily life but also the important substance to maintain the natural metabolism. Normally, people just know that salt is used for flavoring but ignore its other purposes, so I have researched various uses of salt by the means of interviewing, investigating and consulting information.

一、盐水的消毒用途
一次，我在邻居家中玩，正好他们家中的猪生病，请来了兽医。兽医给猪看过病后，取出了针筒准备打针。当他要对针头消毒时，才发现忘带了酒精。他就吩咐主人家取出一些食盐，之后把食盐稀释成盐水，原来他是用盐水代替酒精来消毒的。我在旁问他：“这盐水能消毒吗？”他回答说：“这当然可以，别小看这盐水，以前部队缺少消毒药品，就是用这盐水来消毒的。”
一、Disinfection of Salt Water
Once I visited my neighbor while their pig was ill, so the veterinarian came. After diagnosing the pig, the veterinarian took out tube and prepared to give it an injection. But he found he had forgotten bringing alcohol while he was planning to disinfect the needle. So the veterinarian asked the host to take out some salt and diluted it into salt water. Then I understood that he was using salt water for disinfecting instead of alcohol. I asked him：“Is it able to be used for disinfecting?” and he answered：“Of course！Don’t look down upon it. It was once used for disinfecting when the army was lack of disinfection medicament.”
二、盐是维护人体生命的重要物质
盐对维持人体正常的新陈代谢，保持体液的酸碱平衡有密切的关系，它是维护人体生命的一种必要条件。人体如果连续几天不摄入盐，就会浑身无力，身体中的抵抗力就会降低，接着便会有种种疾病发生。如：《闪闪红星》的电影中，潘冬子为了山上游击队吃到食盐，用尽智慧，躲避敌人的搜查，终于把盐巧妙地运上山。
二、Important Matter for Maintaining People's Lives
Being the prerequisite for human life, Salt is closely linked to maintaining the human body's natural metabolism and the acid base balance of body fluid. Without ingesting salt for several days, people would feel rather weak and the resistance would be worse, which might result in various diseases. For example, In the film Shining Red Star, for the sake of bringing salt to the guerilla successfully, Dongzi Pan found out many ways to evade the enemy's searches.

三、盐的医用用途
（1）用蒸馏水加上精制食盐，所配制的生理盐水，常用来抢救失液、失血严重的垂危病人。（2）此种生理盐水也是医院中最常用的营养输液。（3）用食盐一匙，放在锅中炒成焦黄，以温水冲服，能吐出胃中的食积痰涎。（4）常用盐水嗽口，能防止齿龈出血，有健齿作用。（5）晨起饮盐汤一杯，可以治心火引起的口舌糜烂症状。
三、Medicinal Use of Salt
(1) The physiological salt water made of distilled water and refined salt is often used to rescue serious patient who has been badly loosing fluid and blood. (2) This physiological salt water is also the nutritious transfusion in most common use in hospital. (3)Taking a spoonful of salt sautéed in the wok till turning into brown with warm water could help spit out undigested food and phlegm in the stomach. (4）Gargling with salt water could prevent gingival-blooding and be beneficial to strengthening teeth. (5) Drinking a cup of salt soup after getting up in the morning could cure erosion of mucous membrane in the cavity caused by heart-fire.
四、盐的其他用途
（1）常用盐沐发，头发不易发白和脱落，头皮也不发痒。为了证实盐的这种效用，我连续几次用盐水洗发，果然头皮不再那么痒了，而且很少有头发脱落的现象发生。（2）把染织物先放在盐汤中浸泡，染上色泽会匀称好看。
四、Other Purposes of Salt.
(1) Washing hair with salt could help prevent hair-losing and whitening and the scalp would mot itch. In order to attest to this use of salt, I were washing hair with salt water several times, as I expected, the scalp didn't itch and the hair hardly lost. (2) Steep the dye materials in salt water before dying, the color and luster would be nice and uniform.As mentioned above, the use of salt is so extensive!
