Rottnest Island is one of Western Australia's main tourist attractions. The Island is only accessable by boat. There are no cars on the Island.
The holiday village on the Island is really popular. It is booked up from one year to the next. There is also a beautiful hotel which has evening entertainment and a fabulous restaurant.
To get around Rottnest you don't just have to walk, you can ride on the Wadjemup Bus Tour. The advantage you get from going on the tour is you get information on each important place or landmark that you pass.
Another way to get around Rottnest (also known as Rotto) is by hiring a bicycle. You can hire your bikes at the Rottnest Island Bike Hire.
Rottnest is a wonderful place to get away from everything and enjoy nature.
Rottnest is known for it's Quokka's, small kangaroo like creatures that live on the island.
Quokkas
Quokkas are Rottnest Islands native animals. They are larger than rats but smaller than Wallabies, so they are about the size of full grown cats.
They are normally a brownish, grayish colour and are fairly chubby. Their hair is normally sticking up, so they look really fluffy.
They are very cute but they are a wild creature and therefore are not to be patted. They are Native to Rottnest and they look like they will be staying there for a long time to come.
