The Dinosaur Signature
Do you want a more unique tourism destination? Try visit Jatijajar Cave which is located in Jatijajar Village, Kecamatan Ayah, Kabupaten Kebumen, Middle Java. The location of this cave is 21 km South West Kecamatan Gombong. Jatijajar Cave is a natural cave that is made of limestone. The total length of this cave is 12 meters, with 15 meters width and the ceiling thickness that reach 10 meters long. If you measure it from above sea level, the height of Jatijajar Cave is up to 50 meters.
Jatijajar cave was officially considered as a tourism object in year 1975. There is a dinosaur statue in front of this cave, it has become the special characteristic of this tourism destination. The visitors will feel as if they are entering the dinosaur’s mouth when they come in to the cave.
The dinosaur statue looks as if it expels water. Actually it is the estuary of a spring inside the cave, which are from Sendang (river) Kantil and Sendang Mawar. People believe that this water is unlimited, even in dry season. If you go deeper, you will find a more beautiful and incredible view, because this cave are lit by lots of lights.

Enjoying The View
There is a hole in the cave’s ceiling that is use as the cave’s ventilation. There is also a wide circle seat in the middle of the cave, which is use as the area for visitors to rest. While you are resting, you can enjoy the wonderful view of stalagtit, stalagmit and poles that are made of limestone.
That’s not it, visitors are also able to view at 32 statues which tell us stories about Lutung Kasarung legend. People believe that Jatijajar cave used to be Raden Kamandaka’s asceticism in order to get divine inspiration. He is the son of Pajajaran’s King. That is according to local legend.
Jatijajar cave’s peculiar feature is in a space under the cave. It still has 4 underground rivers that still flowing. The water current from Sendang Mawar passes by a narrow hole that emerges through outside the cave. Same thing happen in Sendang Kantil water current.
Purportedly, if a visitor able to approach and wash their face with Sendang Mawar’s water, they will stay young. Some people also believe, if someone washes their face or take a bath with Sendang Kantil’s water, that person’s aim and dreams will soon come true.
Meanwhile, the manager of Jatijajar Cave purposely made Sendang Jombor and Sendang Puser Bumi sacred place. If you want to explore the cave’s tunnel through those two sendangs, you have to get permission from the manager of Jatijajar Cave.

How Can I Get There?
To get here, the easiest way is by bus with Gombong-Jatijajar destination from Gombong Terminal. But of course visitors can visit this tourism destination by their own vehicle, because it is easy to get here.
If you want to spend a night here, hotels are available around Jatijajar Cave. And if you are tired after exploring the cave, you can fill your empty stomach in restaurants which is located around this tourism destination. The prices are also pretty reasonable.
