What is Kyai Langgeng Park?
Kyai Langgeng Park. This natural tourist’s interest object is located in Magelang town, Middle Java. This park has a pretty incredible view, certainly because it has a complete collection of plants and animals.
People named the park ‘Kyai Langgeng Park’ because there is a grave of an Indonesian warrior in this park. He is a fighter in Diponegoro’s war, and in order to commemorate his merit people use his name as the name of the park.
Kyai Langgeng Park combine two elements, tourism and education. Proved by the existence of a library in this tourism area. In fact, caused by its existence, in 17 May 2003, National Education Minister, Prof. Dr. Bambang Soedibyo gave the name of this tourism area “Desa Buku Taman Kyai Langgeng”, which means “Kyai Langgeng Park, Village of Book”.

This 28 hectare wide tourism area has a fresh atmosphere because it lies in Merapi Mountain’s slope. Tourists can also enjoy the natural view while they are sitting in a hut around the rice field, they can have a wonderful view of a rice field all in green, river valley, and range of hills.
For the entire tourists that are looking for a sport recreation, you can try the kayaking in Progo Asri River’s clear waters. The current of this river could take you to 9 km in less than 3 hours. But, if you want a more simple sport, you can join the light exercise and a massive gymnastic that are held every Sunday at 6 AM-8AM WIB.
If you want to know more about Indonesian culture, you can visit Kyai Langgeng Park on weekend or holidays to enjoy many kinds of entertainment. Like a Malayan musical group, reog, kuda lumping and other local specialities musical group.
Actually, this park gives us lots of facilities. They provide a camping ground, tourism cottage, swimming pool, fishing area, go cart area, and many more. They even got a mini train, and a jet coaster. Hotels, restaurants and mini market are also available around Kyai Langgeng Park.
It will take some time to get here. You can follow this route to get here.
1. Get a bus with Magelang-Wonosobo destination from Magelang Bus Terminal.
2. Or you can get a bus with Magelang-Tidar destination on the first or fifth platform.
3. Get off the bus at Kyai Langgeng Park.
But if you want it to be easier, you can use your own personal vehicle to get here.

The Prices and Benefit
Although to get here you already waste some energy, the amount of money that you need to spend to enter this park is only Rp5.000. But, if you want to use other facilities, such as mini train, merry-go-round, and other facilities it will cost you about Rp2.000-Rp10.000 for each person. Meanwhile, if you want to try kayaking sport, you need to spend Rp96.000 each person, and it is already including the guide. And to join the light exercise and massive gymnastic you need to spend only Rp1.000 each person. Isn’t it cheap??
People that are living around Magelang Town usually go to Kyai Langgeng Park as a place to relieve stress. Especially for those who are tires working in big cities. The fresh atmosphere and the beautiful area really cheer up visitors. The price which is achievable is also the reason why there are many people visiting this park.
