The Legend of Situ Patengan
Behind the beauty of nature, Situ Patengan has a legend that has been circulating in the surrounding communities. It was told that there is a prince and a princess who love each other. However, their love is not running smoothly. Until the end, they are separated by circumstances. Then, their tears form a lake. Therefore, the lake was given the name Situ Patengan that comes from the word pateangan-teangan. The word is the language of Sunda, which means ‘search each other’.
Because of their strong love connection, they met at a large stone that is located in edge of Situ Patengan. Until now, the stone is called The Stone of Love. On the Stone of Love, the prince and the princess promise to not be separated again.
According to the legend, it appears that there is a faith in the middle of a community. A pair of lovers who visit the Stone of Love, their love will be eternal.
