延边朝鲜族自治州地处美丽的长白山区，山地占全州总面积的54.8%，高原占6.4%,谷地占13.2%,河谷平原占12.3%,丘陵占13.3%,基本上是“八山一水半草半分田”。整体地势西高东低，自西南、西北、东北三面向东南倾斜，以珲春一带为最低。整个地貌呈山地、丘陵、盆地三个剃度，山岭多分布在周边地带，丘陵多分布在山地边沿，盆地主要分布在江河两岸和山岭之间。
