Judaism

Judaism is more traditional than any other religion I know of. There are important holidays and there are less important holidays. It is the Jewish religion. There's a lot of traditions. Other religions aren't as loyal or faithful to their beliefs. Jewish are very strong believers.

Jewish Traditions

  • They eat matzah

That's to remember what the Jews had to eat during the exodus of Egypt. They made bread but didn't have time to add the yeast so it's almost like a cracker.

  • They dip parsely in salt water.

This is to remember theJews' tears when they were slaves for the Egyptians.

  • Men wear beany hats called yarlmulkes.

This was what the men wore when they went to the synagogue. That's church. This happens during Passover.

  • They only follow the old testament of the bible.

Their traaditions are all based on the Old Testament. They don't read the New Teastament.

  • They spread charosat on Matzah.

Charosat is made of apples, nuts, red wine, and cinnamin.

Jewish Holidays

  • Rosh HaShanah

Rosh HaShanah is the Jewish New Year, the day when the number of years increase. It lasts for 1 or 2 days. It happens between Labor Day and Columbus Day.

  • Hanukah (Chanukah)

This is the festival of lights. This is when they had enough oil for 1 day but it lasted for 8 days.

  • Passover

King Pharaoh made a law that the first born Jewish baby boy should be persecuted. This made God mad so he sent 10 pleagues to the egyptians. The 10th pleague was that every 1st born egyptian baby boy should die so God had the Jewish people smear lamb blood on their door so when the angel of death came to kill the little boys, it would passover the houses with lamb blood on their door.

  • Yom Kippur

This is the day of atonement. You ask for forgiveness of your sins. You fast, or don't eat for 24 hours. Sunrise to sunrise.
