Q1: What's the rate of the low-income families in your community? Could you describe the living conditions of them?
A1: The total number of people in our community is 6,796, about 10% of which are the low-incomers, 1794 of which are at the edge of poverty, and 132 of which are in broad poverty. Many of them are laid-off workers, some lose their financial aid, some have difficulty in affording the fees of their children's education, and some have too many family members that they have to rely on their grandparents.
Q2: How does your community help the low-income families?
A2: Being a self-organized organization, our community works as a communicator between the government and the low-income families. The community will first report the living conditions of the low-income families to the government and help them according to the government policy. Meanwhile, the community will take special care about their living conditions. During every important festival, the social workers will go and visit them with necessities of life, which was paid by administrative expenses that they saved.
Interview in community(2)
Q3: Examples of giving help to the impoverished people.
A3: In order to help the low-income family to solve their practical problems, the community organized a "Wu Tianxiang party group", and activities such as campaign of "one helps another"(a party member helps a low-income family), and "two help another"(two party members help a low-income family). Besides, the community also united all the people together and called on them to help the low-income families. For example, during the snow disaster happened in 2008,many water pipes were frost cracked and the low-income families have difficulty in using water in their daily life. To help them solve the problem, the social workers carried water for them personally, and on the other hand, the community organized maintainers to conduct the first-aid repair. And there are many other examples of helping the low-income families.
Q4: To the community, what are the insufficient aspects of helping the low-income families?
A4: It is really hard for the community to attend every low-income family because of large area of it and the lack of the professional social workers.
Q5: As to the government, what are the insufficient aspects of helping the low-income families? And how to improve it?
A5: ⑴The government should pay more attention to the medical care and employment of the low-income families.
⑵ the government should improve the treatment given to social workers in community who are responsible to helping the low-income families.
⑶The government should provide periodical trainings to the social workers in community who are responsible to helping the low-income families to improve their working efficiency.
⑷The government should know more about the basic needs of the ordinary people and take special care of them by going down to the grass roots.

Interview in a poor family(1)
Time: 3:30pm.on April 9th, 2009
Place: In the Mazu Road Community, Wuhan
Interviewee: Ms. Liu (disabled)
Content of the interview: The measures that the Urban Communities have take to poor people.
Purpose: Try to find out about the measures that the Urban Communities have taken to poor people, how much they have done and those poor families' views on these measures.
Here is the Interview:
Q1: How much has the community done to help you?
A1: According to the government's policy, the community has done a lot, such as providing financial subsidies and unpaid assistant to the poor families, making feedback surveys regularly and correcting the mistake's in their work in time. Last winter, the water pipes of our house got frozen when the snow was heavy, the staff members of our neighborhood community helped to send water to poor families door-to-door, which really touched everyone of us.
Q2: Are you satisfied with the community's work?
A2: We could only say that we're basically satisfied with their work. While there're times when they do not seem to be warm-hearted enough.
Q3: What else do you think that the community can do for you?
A3: We know they are not taking an easy job, so we do not rely on them to do everything for us .We just hope they could treat us with respect and be more sincere in what they are doing for us. Besides food and clothing, we wish them to care more about our inner world. We are eager for some care activities.

Q4: do you have any other ideas or hopes?
A4: Although our community is helping us in time, it is far form enough. We still have to depend on ourselves to improve our living, and we hope for more people's care.
Conclusion: As many poor families' lives are similar to Ms Liu's, old people living alone or retired workers, our interview is a typical representative. We could see that on the one hand, our community has done a lot to help these families, but this is far form enough. There is much more to be done. On the other hand, when they are facing the difficulties of life, these poor families hope for only material assistant, but also spirit assistant. Finally they wish that more people could care about them, and they believe our government can solve their problems and help them to lead a comfortable life.
The result of my interview
This is my summary of the results of interviews with one of the beggar in the our city. "Mr.Dodi portrait is one of the urban people. He worked as a beggar, who works out of the morning, and can have breakfast when the sun is blazing. Income of only 20 thousand rupiah per day. The reason he stayed in the big city is here because he got a job. While in the village he became unemployed. "
