SMART Boards are a kind of technology that has been around for over 15 years!(3) These boards are described as interactive whiteboards. Interactive whiteboards are made with touch screens and can be hooked up to your own personal computer so it can project the image on your computer to the whiteboard screen! But you wouldn't write on it with an expo marker, you can use the digital ink pen! These were the first interactive whiteboards, made in 1991. Today it is the most used interactive whiteboard in the whole world! (1)
The SMART Board helps students with their memory and knowledge of the things they learn. Children love learning with the SMART Boards because they make school fun! Studies show that note taking is not very good for students because they can be distracted and miss some of the notes. The SMART Board has the students listening and watching visually so they will grasp a deeper understanding of the lesson. The SMART Board is great for all types of school work in any subject! It's especially good in mathematics. Another benefit of these awesome whiteboards is that they can be used for students with learning disabilities! Instead of looking at a boring old textbook all day you could be learning on a SMART Board! Children who work with tecnology at an earlier age understand the more complicated tecnology when they grow up. The only bad thing about these whiteboards would be how much they cost.(2)
