Germany has envisaged to go for a more aggressive approach for its legacy in Europe.The Schlieffen Plan has been adopted to "remove the defender or removing the defending piece".In which case, France could pose a threat to the Germans soon or later and will always back up Russia by annexing through the Western Germany. The main goal which is to eliminate Russia has to start by knocking down the French first in a swift blow through neutral Belgium and the shortest route to Paris before focusing its army on Russia.
Austro-Hungary, in partnership with Germany, has sought for occupation of Serbia. Austro-Hungary thought that when Germany agreed to support in the invasion of Serbia,Germany would cover its northern-flank so that its army can focus on occupying Serbia.However, Germany envisioned that it was going to attack France first according to The Schlieffen Plan without the direct participation in the invasion of Serbia. As a result, the attempt to invade Serbia failed miserably. It seems that Austro-Hungary had to bear the consequences of The Schlieffen Plan by being attacked by both sides of Russia and Serbia.
