Our team
Observation
Our team members have been living at the foot of Changbai Mountain since our childhood. We speak different ethnic languages and we have various minority customs, however, we all have good wishes and genuine feelings towards the nature, the commitment to protect environment, the love to our hometown and all mankind. So, we have carefully chosen the topic and planned, created and edited our works. And we eagerly wish to introduce our precious Changbai Mountain, to the little friends all over the world by Thinkquest network platform, so that everybody may contribute his/her concern and sharing in the pleasure in reading it.
Observation One:
The Theme, Welcome to Changbai Mountain, was proposed by me, and it also had been discussed like many other proposals before the final decision was made. I am proud that my proposal has won the universal acknowledgement, in the meanwhile, I can sense the weight of the duty on my shoulders. In order to better complete this competition project, and for another reason that I am very interested into popular science, Jin Zhengxu and I visited the Bureau of Tourism, Bureau of Environmental Protection, Yanbian University, and the Library. Through visitation, looking into references and searching online, we collected and sorted the data and information with regard to the geographical structure of Changbai Mountain, Water System and Ecological System. During this course of the work, I gathered a further knowledge about Changbai Mountain, as well as more popular science that we don’t have in our school books. I really appreciate this chance that I can cooperate with other students, and am grateful to this “Thinkquest” platform. By the way, I tend to dwelling upon scientific problems, and often I come across problems I can’t work out myself, such as “Why flies so easy to get into rooms, while they are hard to find their way out?”, “Why cat enjoy playing its own tail?” etc. And of course, if you know the answer or if you are interested into science as well, please contact me.
Observation Two:
In the course of our coordination and cooperation, we had overcome many difficulties, accumulated many experiences and approaches for cooperation and solution studies, which has greatly helped every members. On one side, it has reinforced our unity, for an instance, we would discuss on every report and make preliminary assignment according to each member’s specialty; and also we visited Yanbian Korean Folk Village, Museum to study folk residence and folk custom in the weekend. On the other hand, our have established the team work ability in dealing with difficulties. For an example, at the initial stage of making the webpage on “Thinkqest”, it was not like each member could accomplish the work by themselves. Therefore, whenever there needs to change password, pictures uploading and difficulties like that, we would give our hands to help each other and to tackle the problems together.
Observation Three:
Hi all, I am very much looking forward to communicating with friends of my age from all over the world. On that account, I made full use of my spare time to study, to look for help from my classmates, my parent and my instructor. I really wanted to do better on the study on the theme “Welcome to Changbai Mountain”. I spent most of my working hour of this project on making the webpages for “Thinkquest”, which is because I am a computer master for my team mates, naturally, the webpage making work fell on me. As a matter of fact, before I come across the “Thinkquest”, I wasn’t very familiar with “Thinkquest”, it was sort of learning while doing. After a period of time, I am very adroit at making our webpages on the “Thinkquest” platform. Hi, friends, when you see our works, your help to improve my work will be very appreciated, but, please don't laugh at our effort, you know, we have put most of our time and great effort into the job.
Observation Four:
I was living in the country side when I was young, I remember there was a brook, and the water flowing in it was clean and clear. There were many small fishes and frogs in the river, it was a paradise for me and my playmates, unfortunately, few years later, I found the clean and clear river is gone. And instead, there runs a dark river. My granny sighed, the villagers don’t care much about the river, and that is why now we have an ugly dark river. That environmental damage was really shocking and I just can’t get the image of dark river out of my head. I realized how bad it could be if we don’t care about environment. So when we started to do the project of “Welcome to Changbai Mountain”, an idea came across my mind, which is to call for universal care and protection for Changbai Mountain when we unfold the beautiful Changbai Mountain Landscape. After this idea had been applauded by our members and approved by our instructor, the study report “Participating in Environmental Protection” was completed with the help of everyone’s effort. I have refered to informations from “China Yanbian Tourism Network”, “Reference News”, “The Sustainable Development of Yanbian’s Ecology”. Observation Five:
Due to the limitation of our ability in English writing and reading, we had quite a lot of trouble when there is Chinese needed to be translated into English. Therefore, I had to turn to our instructor Miss Xu. who instructed us to read the competition rules and the winning works of the recent years, and helped us to translate the report of research. During this period, my interest in English study was well developed.
Observation Six:
The common goal and the driving force of our cooperation in our writing “Welcome to Changbai Mountain” are to Return to Nature, to Savor and Enjoy the fresh and comfortable nature and cultural landscape in the nature and the ecological environment, to Explore the mystery, to Boost Health, to Cultivate Morals, to Receive Educations on environmental protection, to Appreciate the Nature and Cultural Heritage etc. We had put our effort in presenting to the global friends the Changbai Mountain in terms of the geological structure, natural scenery and cultural landscape. It was the joy of sharing with others that drove us to complete our works including Project Design, Information Collection, Survey Study, Report Writing, Online Exchange and etc. This had been a chance to improve our comprehensive ability, especially our abilities in Hands-on Practice, Observations and Teamwork cooperation.
