Saad Zaghlool Pasha Exile

In 1919 Egypt was a British colony, ruled by a British general. At the time there was a great revolution called the 1919 revolution leaded by a great leader called Saad Pasha, the British wanted to exile Saad Pasha and his associates to Malta Island. In order to travel Saad Pasha must go to Port Said harbor and take a ship to Malta, Port Said people 'Muslim and Christiane' decided to make a delegation to see the leader before his travel, the British troops built barricades around the leader but the delegation managed to breach through. This general remain till this time a symbol of evil and imperialism to the whole Egyptians specially Port Said people. At the same occasion every year people in Port Said make a dole for this general and burn it in great festival called Sham Elneseem which comes every year after the christian Eastern Festival.

Moving Out

Egypt was under British occupation for at least 73 years,after the 23rd of July 1952 evolution leaded by Gamal Abdel Nasser and his free officers movement, the Egyptian Government and the British government signed an agreement provide that the British troops must leave Cairo and the rest of Egypt and have their camps on the Suez Canal area (Port Said - Ismalia - Suez) to guard their interests in the canal.But the Egyptians refused to have any foreign troops on their soil, so every Egyptian who found strength and capability join the civilian defense groups and trained on how to carry a weapon and go to the Canal cities to fight against the British. During this time so many heroes , one of them was Mohamed Mahran, he made so many Suicide operation which drove the British troops crazy ,when the arrested him they toke him to Malta island and toke his eyes. He still live in Port Said till the present.

The War In 1956.

Port Said is the first city ships see when thay enter the Canal from the north and the last city ships see when they left the Canal.Back in 1965 Egypt ruled by Gamal Abdel Nasser decded to uild a very big dam on the Nile River banks, this dam was built to supply Egypt with electiricty for the factories and the industrial renaissance the 23rd of July revolution was building. The Egyptian government asked the International Bank to finance the project but the bank turned the Egyptian government down.The only way out of this dilemma was to nationalize The Suze Canal.The Canal at the time was under the influence of the French and British governments according to an agreement signed between these governments and Ismail Pasha who ruled Egypt in 1888.The Nationalization decision made France , England and Isrea angry France and England because they lost a larg amount of money and Isreal because the tension between Nasser and their government.In 1956 the troops of the three countries attach Port Said trying to take control of the Canal again.
