Foreign Immigrants: FOREIGN WORKERS
Indeed a multi-racial society
Singapore is home to 577,000 foreign workers (Straits Times article, April 18 2009), making her one of the countries with the highest percentage of migrants in the labor force.
These foreign workers, usually unskilled, contribute to the manufacturing and construction sectors in Singapore.
They mostly come from Malaysia, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, and Thailand. China foreign workers are becoming increasingly common in service sectors such as the F&B sector.
