Music

If we think about a certain kind of music, a certain composer or a favorite song, we end thinking of the mood they generate.

For example, when we were little and we started to cry, our mothers used to calm us with a warm and tender song, and before bedtime a song would put us to sleep. This proves that music is capable of influencing our mood in different situations, which often aren’t taken into consideration as they should. In our daily life we have all appealed to music in order to change our mood. When we are tired or when melancholy strikes, we do our best to surpass that moment. Here comes the need to listen to something special. Listening to a peaceful song, with a personal meaning, makes us feel more relaxed, less tired or even happy. We have all resorted to music therapy at least once in our lives, aware or less consciously of the fact that this is one of the oldest method of improving depressing moods or other pains.

From times of yore, music was one of the means of stimulating the warriors before a battle. Nowadays we do the same thing, except that the wars which our ancestors used to take part in, have turned into competitions that we want to win. We banish our emotions, which we have before a “fight”, by listening to songs which bring peace of mind and make us feel more confident.
Studying more about melotherapy or music therapy, I learnt that it is used since Pitagora’s time and Platon was the one who promoted it next. He cured different illnesses through the power of sounds and music, mostly the lack of poise between the Universe and the human being.

The sinology

In the XIX century, the positive effects of the sound on the human body and mind began to be studied more and more. The Romanian scientist George Constantinescu, who studied the sound effect for a long time, was the inventor of a new science: the sinology. This is the science which studies the therapeutically abilities of the sounds.

Throughout the ages, music has become more and more used for curing certain diseases and it has an important role in modern psychiatry. Music operates both in the psychic and in the body. The rhythm, frequency and intensity of the sounds regulate the cardiac rhythm and the blood pressure and so our body relaxes, reaches its normal limits and the organism is filled with energy.

The incredible Melotherapy

The harmony of sounds can often do miracles with us and this is demonstrated by some studies that have been made over time.It was discovered that music can cause good moods, making the passing from a mood of frustration to one of trust in life.

The therapy with music has been used since Antiquity , and this is attested in books which told stories of some gods’ lives that cured diseases with the help of sounds and sacred songs. One of the most known is the case of the god Asclepios, the god of medicine. He treated some diseases with the help of music in a fabulous way. Advancing throught history we found that Herodot has also recommended music as being a way to treat some diseases, to fix some equilibrium between the world of cosmos and the world of human being.Even nowadays, the harp represents a special instrument, whose music totally relaxes us.In the specialized literature it is known the case of king Saud which was cured by David with the help of harp’s songs. It is also said that Sparta was cured of plague with the help of a musician named Thaletas from the Elen island Crete.

Our ancestors, the Dacs also used songs which reinforce the power of the word or amplify an idea.Today, this practice is found in some tribes in Africa, Asia and Australia where the animism puts its mark and the traditions and rituals are based on dance and music to treat diseases.

Depending on condition or health problem, age, sex , intellectual training , life style or even personality, music is chosen different from person to person, to give maximum benefits and the wanted result. Every song or suffering of the body is produced by certain lacks in our bodies, creating an opposite vibration. That’s why scientists demonstrated that some musical areas are quite necessary to provoke certain vibrations and bring back balance in our organism.

Music won the role of “friend”

In melotherapy,or therapy with music, sounds and rhythms become instruments which increase creativity and treat health problems.Learning difficulties, chronical pains or hypertension can be ameliorated thanks to the sounds’ benefits.Music is also an instrument of self improvement.More exactly, it helps the growth of some intellectual abilities such as attention, memory, and increases mobility, agility and the socio-afictive capacity.Music helps us communicate better, share ideas and feelings with others.
One of the most important aspect of melotherapy is the fact that we don’t need a certain music culture to practice or obtain its benefits.Of course, the results will be quicker and more significant if we turn to a therapist who can tell us exactly which kind of music we should choose.Another important thing is that therapists can choose the form of this kind of therapy:

The active melotherapy – playing a musical instrument, composing songs, or just moving the body rhythmical.

The receptive melotherapy – the audition of music which stimulates creative energy or contributes to increase the capacity of concentration and memory.

Music won the role of “friend” for the persons with difficulties and problems in communication, proving itself very efficient for the children who suffer of autism.
The beneficial effects of the sounds give good results in the cases of children with talking problems.Easy songs composed of some syllables contribute to the articulation improvement of the words.

Therapy with vocals & Melotheraphy benefits

Therapy through vocals is a therapeutic method discovered by the savant Lesser Lasario, which shows that sounds can provoke different moods such as happiness, sadness and makes babies laugh. The method uses the vocals A,E,I,O,U and consists of deep breathing on nose, followed by the expiration, which will give a prolonged and melodic sound. The scientist discovered that every vocal has an certain effect and provokes certain mood. Therefore :

The vocal A acts over lungs and over the brain, increasing and improving the efficiency of the mental processes, harmonising the affective capacity and ameliorating memory.

The vocal E acts over the neck and vocal tendon. This provokes a purity mood, candour and heals certain problems of the neck.

The vocal I acts over the heart, neck , nose and head .This heals cardiac problems and gives the state of a happiness.

The vocal O acts over the diaphragm part and brings the calm of the parients.

The vocal U acts over the sexual organs, the liver and the stomach, healing gradually some disorders of the stomach, eliminating constipation and disorders of the liver.

The benefits of melotherapy

Tension, pulse, sensibility at pain, are all influenced by rhythm or certain waves. When you are relaxed, the pulse reduces. But if you’re scared, hurt or stressed, the cardiac beating remains “frozen” on a certain wave.Making different testes, doctors discovered that the level of stress, the adrenaline and the cortizol can be reduced with 20% by listening to a romantic or cerebral music.

We read many articles about this type of therapy and we found out that women can face better the birth pains by listening to music. Also, the patients who listen to music before the surgery have 50% less need of sedatives.
