Saving the Environment

By: Xavier

A good world citizen recycles. Being green is good for being a good world citizen. If you are good to the environment then you are a good world citizen.

Did you know that salt pollutes water? The salt you put on your steps to melt snow flows into drinking water and contaminates it. In stead of using ice there are chemicals that you can use. What else can we do for the environment?

There are lots of ways to help the environment, like changing your light bulbs to Compact Flourescent Light Bulbs. You can also plant a tree and turn things off when you’re done with it. Taking shorter showers saves water.

Lakes, national parks, and streets are being polluted. In Turkey, a lake in national park is getting a funeral because. It is going to get a lot of pollution. In Costa Rica, a national park has a sewage problems, but they don’t have the money to deal with it. There are other things we can do for the environment and there are other places being effected.

To be a good world citizen you should be good to the environment

Water Pollution

  • A man is going out into the ocean and hoping to pick up five miles of litter that has been thrown into the ocean by citizens. Lets pray for that man and hope he can help!

Fish and Seal

The fish is eating a soda can a citizen threw into the ocean. If that citizen was a good world citizen they would have recycled it.

The seal got trapped in a fishing net. If the fisherman was a good citizen he would have untangled the seal.

My Pictures

This is a picture of a littered lock I found in the James River.   This is a picture of a plastic bag in the water. This bag will eventually get pulled back into the ocean by currents and choke a fish.   This is a picture of a dead crab next to some beach litter.

The Enviroment

To answer questions like: What would happen if you recycled one more thing each day? How does global warming affect where you live?

  • Question:

Can all things that pullute be recycled?
    Mar. 04, 2009

    • Answer:

No, but they can be stopped and prevented. Planting trees can help, because it filters the air. Also, when you are in the car, and you stop to talk to someone out the window, you can turn off the car to save energy. Did you know that when you stop the car, smoke still billows out the back? Now take a minute to imagine 3 billion cars stopping and still billowing smoke? That is a lot of pollution!
