Ways to Help Endangered Species
Ways to Help Endangered Animals
Welcome to this page! This page is about ways to help endangered animals and species. You will read the reports, save the animals, less paper, wildlife conservation, and preserving habitats for animals. I hope you enjoy this page!
Save the Animals
Some animals are endangered and need our help. One way to help is to respect wildlife habitat, which means to leave animals homes alone and don’t take things that belong to them, just like we wouldn’t want things taken from us. Respect parks, forests, and other nature areas to avoid damaging the natural habitats of animals.
Another way to help protect wildlife is to try and reduce pollution. Not only does pollution keep animal’s habitats safe and clean, it also affects humans. You can reduce the amount of pollution by recycling, buying organic foods, and conserving energy. We can also limit the amount of pesticides and herbicides we use to control plants, weeds, rodents and insects as those same chemicals can be poisonous to animals in their habitats.
You can also protect animals by not purchasing products made out of animals, such as fur coats, rugs, and hats. Avoid buying soaps, shampoos, and other chemicals that have been tested on animals. If there is no demand for these kind of products, companies will stop making them and stop using animals for profit.

Wildlife Refuges 1
What is a Wildlife Refuge?
A Wildlife Refuge is an area of land set aside for the protection of wildlife, especially wildlife that is facing a problem like over hunting, over fishing, and habitat loss. Wildlife refuges are created by national or state governments, and sometimes by individual people or non-profit organizations.
There are more than 37,000 protected areas for wildlife across the world today. Many of them are small and have less than four square miles of land. There are more than 500 wildlife refuges in the United States National Wildlife Refuge system.
What is the impact of Wildlife Refuges on endangered species?
The purpose of a refuge is to keep animal and plant species alive by preserving animal habitats and food resources. The refuge gives animals a safe place to stay when their habitats are getting destroyed for things like making electricity and grazing cattle (for cheap hamburgers). Refuges help endangered animal populations recover.

Wildlife Refuges 2
Scientists use refuges to observe animals and learn how they live which helps scientists learn how to help the animals survive. For example, scientists studying the red-eyed tree frog have learned that there’s a fungus that kills these frogs, and they are trying to find ways to kill the fungus and save the frogs. This is important to humans, because frogs are one of the most sensitive species and they are the first to be hurt by habitat changes. Wildlife refuges help scientists understand habitat changes that may hurt all forms of life.
Another example is the International Crane Foundation near Baraboo, Wisconsin in the United States. The whooping crane was nearly extinct. There were only fifteen birds left in 1941. An International Whooping Crane Recovery Team developed a plan to create two more flocks of birds in protected areas so that more birds could breed and the species could recover. It was a lot of work, and involved preserving and protecting the habitats in both the north and south needed for the cranes to recover.
Wildlife refuges help humans learn how to care for endangered and nearly-endangered species of animals because they allow us to understand how the animals relate to everything in their environment. We need to create more wildlife refuges.

Animal Conservation
Saving animals from extinction is important because different animals have important duties in our world and if they become extinct it will hurt the earth. Countless animals are endangered because of over hunting and chemicals in the air and in water. Many types of pollution and deforestation are some other main reasons why there are so many threatened animals.
An additional reason we don’t want any more animals to go extinct is because it could start a domino effect destroying even more animals. An example of a domino effect would be if the butterflies and bees go extinct, they can’t pollinate plants. Then the plants won’t grow and the animals that eat plants will die, and then the animals that eat those animals will die, and eventually even humans would die because there wouldn’t be any animals or plants to eat.
Animals are important; they give humans different things like milk, food and clothing like wool and leather. If one animal in an ecosystem disappears, the whole system is in danger. One of the most recognizable groups trying to help endangered animals is WWF, which is short for the World Wildlife Federation. The WWF raises money to help endangered species like polar bears, rhinos and giant pandas.
