Indonesia's big step

Jakarta, one of the largest and most polluted cities in the world, has been a big disappointment for Indonesia. Concerns has been elaborated by the ministry of environment, and actions are needed to be done in order to create a better life for the people of Indonesia through the reduction of the carbon dioxide emission.

Just last year, the country was chosen as the host country for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) which was truly a great honor. Given such an opportunity, Indonesia has now came up with a plan to better our environment through technologies and developments, such as:

1) Jakarta had started to use natural gases for "busway" city bus, which does not contribute any carbon dioxide for that matter. More people become interested in the public transport, and used bio-diesel transportations instead. This helps to raise the awareness of other citizens, as well as to minimize waste and create a better environment.

2) The installation of Windmill technology is already in place. The first Windmill technology was introduced to the Maluku Island, knowing that lack of electricity was a huge problem in the area. Therefore, this technology helps to solve the electricity problem, as well as to lessen the emission of carbon dioxide and will soon be introduced to other parts of the country.

3) In the island of Bali, a "Green School" was created. The school educates students to immerse in nature, without ruining nature itself. The school is located near the Badong river and uses green technologies such as micro-hydro power, solar power, bio-diesel energy without any air-conditioning system that ruins the environment. This way students will learn how education can still be provided without damaging our earth, and learn how to create a sustainable environment for the global community.
