COMPETITIONS AT THE FEAST OF CHERRIES
This is a brochure written and drew by me,Alessia, to invite people to participate to the celebration of the Feast of Cherries- La Sagra delle Cerase held in Palombara during the first days of May. Each district has at Palombara its own history and tradition. To enhance its neighborhood, all the streets and balconies are decorated with banners, flags and festoons,and participate actively in competitions among districts The competitions are:
1.Decoration of the local district
2. Running race
3. Model cars race
4. Dancing race
Each race includes prizes for participants and for the district. The district that scores the highest score is awarded and declared the district of the year
This brochure invites also all the girls and women to wear the traditional dress of Palombara and says:" Do not let that the traditions of Palombara will die. Let's wear even you your granmother's dress!

ThE TRADITIONAL CLOTHES
The garment is composed of:
The “camiciola”or undervest, its colour is white and it is worn under the “giacchetta”, but it is coloured.
Under the skirt there is the “sottogonna”, in English is petticoat and on the skirt there is the “zinale”that is a white apron .
There is also the “busto” , in English is the corset and a “fazzoletto” or scarf over the jacket.
As accessories women wear the earring, the pins and the necklaces. The color of necklaces
changes if you are married or not. If you are a married woman it is used the red color , if you are not married the color of the necklace is white.
On the hats women put or one wrap or a flower.
Usually in the hand they hold basket full of cherries.
