Haridwar is the most holy place for the Hindus all over India. In Hindi, Haridwar stands for Dwar of Hari or Gateway to God, 'Hari' meaning god and 'dwar' meaning gate. Haridwar is regarded as one of the seven holiest places to Hindus. The echo of holy chants, the spirituality in the surrounding and the beauty of nature all around in Haridwar is definitely a treat to the senses.
The paradise for nature lovers, Haridwar presents an insight of Indian culture and traditions. Haridwar is one of the first towns where Ganga emerges from the mountains to touch the plains. The Ganges or as called in Hindi Ganga is considered one of the holy rivers in India. Mythology says that Haridwar is one of the 4 places where few drops elixir of immortality "AMRITA" has fallen. A festival known as the "KUMBHA MELA" is held in those 4 holy places one of which is Haridwar.
Haridwar is also a place where great adventure journeys start. River rafting, trekking, camping, rock-climbing etc are also part of Haridwar trips.
Haridwar is a great place to spend your vacation both spiritually and adventurously. It is a feast to your senses and a mega fun ride to your mind.
