From Martin Luther King Jr. speech in Washington DC on August 28, 1963
We chose the title "the Table of Brotherhood" for this project from this important speech by Martin Luther King. He was a man that fought for all his life to get better conditions for the people who suffered injustices from other people. His dream was that to see all the children and everyone sitting at the table of Brotherhood, maybe eating and drinking all together without any cultural diversity.So we thought that it would be very nice if we could sit at our Table of brotherhood with other children to celebrate the end of poverty and hunger around the world.
About This Project
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
We chose this topic because at school we are studying Food in Italy and around the world. The Italian and Indian team will learn more about food habits and will know about different types of food around the world. The focus though is on hunger and how every citizen of a country can be empowered to stop hunger and make their country a well fed one. But this is a bigger process which needs wider networks and large forums. So we would like to do little things in our own little way. Initially a study about hunger which would be factual . Second to realize the pain of hunger. Finally devise simple solutions to stop hunger which may include charity programmes like ‘Each One Feed One’.
We will be studying the content aligning with school subjects such as Science, Technology,Geography, and English.With the Science teacher students will study with the project"Sapere Sapori". In Geography we are studying Europe , Asia ,America etc.The Technology subject will help us to improve the use of computer programmes .It will help us in learning more about vocabulary and grammar which would improve our skills in English.Study of different foods all over the world will help us to improve our conversational skills.1.Each student has to do a survey about a country in the world.
2.They will focus their writing on the causes and the effects of hunger.
3.A research of main foods in the country assigned
4. Recipes of the country supported by pictures movie maker or ppt presentation.
5.Writing stories or fairy tales about hunger supported by images, power point or movie maker work.
6. Interviews in ThinkQuest, Internet or at school about hunger, recipes, foods.
7. A quiz done with hot potatoes programme or any programmes.
8. A research about voluntary associations around the world.
9. Italian school and Indian school will organize the final school charity buffet in their own place.
