                                      Geysir and Strokkur

                           

                                                   

Water gushing and blasting in a seethe fountain, followed by a spurt        ( gush) of little drops, white like chalk, rising till the higher of a 5th  floor-an extraordinary       landscape lasted from seven to     eight minutes after that it  disappear .Then a column of burning water gushing in the air like a rocket-this time higher that 30 m or more, thrashed by the wind.

         The eruption go on, the spurt(gush) of water increase more and more, till 60m  high. At the end, a hot steam  Column gushed drafening  whistle and then, the silence, this was the hot source Geyser in the 19305, then the main attraction of Island, the original “geyser” – Nowadays, the tourists admire the performances of a little neighbor, Strokkur which gushes at approximately 10 min, throwing in the air a hot column of weather22m high.

        Geysir and Strokkur are in an area of approximately 50 brot sources hard seethed underground with a plugged rumble.

The geyser area was mantionned in documents for the first timein 1294 when a earth quake and destroyed  some hot sources and had created another two geyser, probably Gheysir and Strokkur Geysir become the main attraction as sooner as it received it’s name in 1647; in those days it was an eruption every day. In 1800 it’s gushing many times in one day, ever it is said that it’s gushing was 14 times in 24 hours.

In 1907 it was extinguished, remaining like that during for 30 years. In 1935, the eruptions were induced artificially, by extracting a fen water and, in this way it was it the slibstasted the pressure in the underground. Today the explosions (the blasts) are rarely but spectacular.
