Fractions
What is a fraction?
In math, to represent parts of a whole number, fractions are used. For example: For dinner you have pizza. So that everyone can have a piece of pizza you cut the pizza into how many pieces you want to have. Each piece of pizza is a part or fraction of the whole pizza. You can add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions.
Multiplying Fractions using
x ![]()
The numerators need to be multiplied first 2 x 3=6. Then you multiply the denominators 9 x 12=108. The product of the numerators needs to be placed over the denominators product.
Then you simplify to get the lowest fraction possible. First you have to find the largest number that can go into both numbers. 6 can go into 6 once which makes 1 the numerator. 6 can go into 108 18 times so 18 is the denominator. You can't simplify
any more so
is your finished product.
