What the Crusades Are!
The crusades were the Christians against the Muslims to recapture Jerusalem and the holy land!
In the 1100s and in 1200s the Crusades took place! The Christians fought against the Muslims for Jerusalem and the Holy land. The Muslims are called Saracens. The Christian knights took over and rebuilt Jerusalem.
The crusades started by the pope [the Christians] addressed an assembly to ask European warriors to go over to Jerusalem and recapture the holy land. The European warriors decided to fight. The only two the crusades that were successful was the First and the Third. A lot of people died during the crusades.
Crusade means ‘Going to the cross.’ At the time the idea was to get Christian warriors to go to Palestine and free Jerusalem and all the other holy places from the Muslims.
