ALBA IULIA - PAST & PRESENT
The reputation of Alba Iulia City has been built in time and it is connected with the significance of the events that marked its secular existence. But its image is set forth and lives through the ensemble of monuments situated within the Citadel walls.
Either outstanding or simple stone and brick structure, the buildings from Alba Iulia Citadel are today valuable testimonies in which both the aspirations and the local community possibilities are mirrored but on which sometimes dominating foreign interests have been overlapped in a brutal way.
All these aspects of public utility or town situations which belong to a far off past, less known or forgotten, can be caught and revealed by researching of some new documentary sources - written or illustrated - in the conditiones in which most of the buildings have been subjected to repeated changes or received destinations and names in a continuous change dependant on the role fulfilled by the City in different stages of its historical and architectural town-planning evolution.
