ARE WE LACKING IN HUMAN RESOURCE?IF NOT, WHAT IS REALLY LACKING:

 MOTIVATION

1.No parents in India would like to encourage their children to discontinue their studies as there is no guarantee of earning a livelihood in a nation where not all the sports are patronized by its citizens.
2.At the same time, the countries against which these sportsmen compete have such excellent facilities for all sports that any aspiring sportsperson can just walk into the nearest facility from home and play for a long time. The membership fee to utilize the facilities is also nominal.
ÒWe have created any number of sports organizations but they hardly work as they are meant to.
ÒRules for selecting the best candidates are bent, broken, warped, twisted and ignored, paving the way for mediocrity, degeneration and collapse.
ÒPoliticians routinely commandeer the democratic mechanisms created in these organizations to elect office bearers.

Resources available

1.Let us consider an average Indian child.
2.Think about the access to sports facilities that he has at the school age.
3.The facilities probably will be there for one or two sports that too shared by so many other children. Many children do not have shared facilities as well.
4.Even those who have access to facilities cannot use them properly due to insane education system in the country that makes every child slog.
5.It gives very less time for children to look towards sports. Many schools even do not have a small ground forgetting any sports facilities.

6.   When the child is not even exposed to many sports, how can we even expect the child to aspire for excellence in any sport? But there are those who come from rich backgrounds and have access to many sports facilities.

7.   But what is the guarantee that these people enjoying the facilities have any interest in the particular sports? Even if they have interest, what is the competition that they are up to in the country?

That is where India lacks as compared to developed nations
vIn addition to the basic problems, there are some created reasons as well, that trouble the sportspersons in the country.
ØIntervention of politics in the sports field.
ØUneven selection criteria for sports.
ØLack of recognition  of sportspersons and of their talents.
ØLots of sportspersons do not get a chance to travel to big sporting events held outside the country and the reason always is the lack of funds.
Ø That’s why limited number of sportsmen travel. But more officials than the number of sportspersons travel for such events and they enjoy free holidays along with their families.
Ø None of the sportspersons know what all these officials do and in what way they help the sportspersons.
Ø But if any sportspersons raise their voice against such injustice, it is like announcing retirement from the game.

INFRASTRUCTURE

According To FICCI (Federation Of Indian Chambers Of Commerce And Industry):

In India, sports is viewed as a hobby rather than a career. The biggest problem is poor infrastructure apart from lack of interest, expert training without scientific backup.

1.The problems the sportspersons encounter in the path towards excellence are plenty and only the people who get into the depth would be able to fathom the reasons.
2.In the countries where the sportspersons keep on excelling, they have an opportunity to select any sport as a choice of career and even discontinue education.
3.The welfare policies of those governments towards its people allow them to make such choices.
4.The facilities available in the countries will help them in confidently selecting any particular sport as career.

5.  At the same time the nation cannot create such facilities even if it funds the same due to the high population density.

6.  Hence sports excellence does not come naturally to people based on their natural talents. Only the rich could afford enrollment into such facilities.

7.   But it may always happen that the naturally talented people may not be rich enough to use the limited sports infrastructure.

8.  At the same time, the rich people who enroll into the facilities may not excel due to the absence of natural instincts in them to such sports.

9.  Many people possessing natural abilities had to cut short their careers due to the inability to hire quality coach and no sources to fund the same.

In the sports sector in India, we have very clear demarcation of responsibility to develop sports:

1.    Government i.e. Department of sports prepares sports policy and fund sports (federation/association) through SAI.

2.   SAI creates infrastructure and provide training to International players.

3.   Federation /Associations of different sports are responsible for creating awareness, giving exposure to new players, providing training, selecting players, marketing and organizing championships and for overall development of sports.

.  The CBSE and state Govts must take inter-school sports competitions more seriously and systematically and conduct them more methodically. There must be enough resources for students identified for intensive training. Their programs should be audited to ensure that the resources are actually spent on training and nutrition and not frittered away by the administrators.
