Batik Pekalongan
Batik Pekalongan often
known as Batik Pesisiran has dynamic characteristic full of
colors, so that Batik Pekalongan is easier to design into
various types of clothes, not only for reception, but also for
entertainment. In deciding the pattern of the motifs, we get
more freedom and do not strict to the existing pattern, and it
is usually pertinent to socio-cultural condition of Pekalongan
society.
Some kinds of Batik
Pekalongan are:
a. Batik Tulis is batik in which its motif is made by hand,
that of being painted using pencil and canting as the protection
under the color substance.
b. Batik Cap is batik in which the motif creation uses a
seal. This seal is usually made of chopper that its pattern has
been painted and put on malam (hot wax liquid).
c. Batik Sablon is batik in which its motif is printed with
negative film/hand print.
d. Batik Painting is batik in which it is made with no
patterns, but directly putting the color on to the cloth.
e. Batik Printing is batik in which its drawing uses a machine. This kind of batik
can be produced in large quantity because it uses modern
machine.
What is the difference between
Pekalongan Batik and Batik from other regions, for example
Solo or Yogyakarta Batik?
Pekalongan Batik, often known as Pesisiran Batik has a
dynamic character and is full of color, so that Pekalongan
Batik is easier to design to be various clothes which are
not suitable only for receptions, but also for entertainment
events. In deciding the motif, we are freer and do not
strick to the existing patterns, and usually it is adjusted
to the socio-cultural conditions of Pekalongan society.
Meanwhile, Solo Batik or Yogyakarta Batik, often known as
Mataram Batik is very simple in its coloring. The commonly
used colors are blue, light yellow and white. The motif of
Solo or Yogyakarta Batik contains lots of philosophical
meanings and full of the meaning of life.
