Welcome to The Bee Hive

What is happening to the bees? Why are their numbers declining? Those are questions that no one can seem to answer.

At the beginning of last year, newspapers started reporting that bees were leaving their hives. Beekeepers found that all of their hives were empty. Usually all that remained was the queen bee and a few hatchlings. Strangely, there was no trace of predators, such as wasps or honey-loving animals. They did not find any dead bees, signs of bee diseases, or evidence of bee-attacking mites. It was finally decided that the bees could not have died of sickness or predator attack. In addition, the beekeepers reported that other bees, moths and animals stayed away from the nest for a few days. This has been known to happen when chemical contamination or disease destroys the nest.
