Sea otters are found from Southern Alaska to Baja California. Californiaís sea otters can grow up to 4 feet long. The sea otters can weigh up to 100 pounds. The lifespan of a male is 10 to 15 years and the lifespan of the female is 15 to 20 years. They eat sea urchins, abalone, mussels, clams, crabs, snails and about 40 other marine species. They eat about 25% percent of their body weight every day. Sea otters donít blubber to keep them warm. They have the thickest fur of all other animals which helps them keep warm. The sea otters are threatened because they are hunted for their fur. Today the law protects 100,000 to 150,000 sea otters.
