Dolphin Safe Tuna

Fishing Boats use dolphins to mark where tuna are located since tuna usually swim underneath groups of dolphins. During the pursuit to get tuna, dolphins get caught. Dolphin safe tuna is important to the survival of the dolphin species. Dolphins are innocent creatures that get killed due to the reckless tuna fisheries that kill the dolphins.  The dolphin safe tuna symbol on a can could be stretching the truth. The tuna fisheries want you to think they are following the law but sometimes the symbol is used to protect companies that may not be complying with the spirit of the law due to loopholes in new legislation. The fishing boat go out and fish for the tuna and in the process, dolphins get captured. The dolphins are confused by the engine noise and the nets in a place that would usually be peaceful. They die of the terrible encounter they had. The fishermen just throw away the dolphin as if they had not just committed a murder. That’s what it’s like for the dolphins, murder! It’s said that 2500-5000 dolphins die each year! The dolphin species will soon be extinct if this keeps up. But that does not mean we cannot stop thousands of dolphins from getting killed. What are you going to do to help the dolphins?
