Examples of Animal Abuse

*Physical abuse-Hitting or hurtting an animal in any way. Example: If you kick, punch, or even something ridiculous as suffocating an animal or running it over with a car, it is an example of physical abuse.

*Unintentional abuse- If someone is unaware that they are abusing an animal.  Example: You have a pet, but your going away for a while and cant find anyone to watch him.  you just decide  to leave him with his bag of dog food spread across the floor and leave newspaper all around the house.  The dog eventually ate all the food and starved to death for the rest of the time.  This was not your fault and you did not mean to kill him, but the dog is still dead.

*Overt abuse- A person forces animals to fight with each other, (Usually for profit) this is also known as “cock fights”.

*Neglect- Ignoring your animal's needs. Example: Not feeding, bathing, walking, or taking care of your pet.

*Those four abuses can get you put in jail for as long as 5 years with a fee of $15,000. Animal abuse is a serious crime in many states, not just the United States. For instance, in Louisiana you can go to jail for up to 10 years and have a fee of $25,000.
