Once upon a time,there was a happy couple with seven sons,living in peace. They were expecting a new baby.The seven brothers didn’t want it to be a boy and said they wouldn’t stay at home any further unless it was a girl.
This family had bad neighbours.They didn’t like the seven brothers at all.The seven brothers went to work.That day they were expecting the baby to be boin.They asked their mother to hang a needle and a rape on the door if it is a girl,and a hammer if it is a boy.They planned to go away without entening the house if it is a boy.
That day,they had a sister.Their bad neighbours who wanted the seven brothers to go away,hanged a hammer on the door.When the brothers came back home in the evening,they saw the hammer on the door.They tought they had a brother and went away without entering.
They walked and walked away.They stayed in the forest for a while and they built a hut there and started to live in it.
Years passed.Their sister Leyla was growing each day.She became fifteen.One day she asked her mother “Haven’t I got any sisters or brothers?”
Her mother couln’t stand any more and told her what happened. Leyla wanted to find her brothers.Her mother tried to stop her but she couldn’t.She prepared foof for he way and went on.On her way,a wise man appeared.He asked where she was going.
Leyla said“I used to have 7 brothers.They left home.I’m going to find them.” The wise man gave Leyla iron shoes and an iron stick and said “You ll find your brothers where your iron shoes are torn and your stick is broken.”
Leyla wore the iron shoes and took the iron stick in her hand and went on.She walked and walked many days.She finally heard a noise“crack!”She looked at the bottom of her shoes and saw the were torn.
She looked around and saw a hut.She walked towards to the hut and entered.There was nobody at home.When she understood that it was her brothers hut she cleaned everywhere.She cooked meals and bread.When the night fell,she hid herself.When her brothers arrived home,they were very surprised.Everywhere was clean and there were delicious meals on the table!To understand and find out who did all these things,the oldest brother started to watch out in front of the house.
The other brothers went to work.The oldest brother fell asleep while watching out when Leyla understood her brother was sleeping she got out of the place where she was hiding.She cleaned the house and cooked the meals and hid again.When her brother wake up,he saw the house clean and the meals ready on the table.He was surprised and confused.Then the other brothers got home and asked what happened but since the oldest brother fell asleep he said he saw nothing.
The seven brothers were watching out one by one each day.Unfortunately,they,just like their oldest brother,fell asleep and couldn’t catch the mysterious visition.The youngest brother was very clever.When it was his turn he cut his finger and pretended he was sleeping.Leyla got out of the place she was hiding thinking that her brother was sleeping.The youngest brother got up and caught Leyla from the hair.He asked“Who are you?Are you a ghost or a human just like us?”
Leyla answered“I am a human just like you.Nothing else.”
Leyla told everything from the begining to her brother.She said she was his sister.His brother was very happy.In the evening her other brothers arrived home.She told the same story to them as well.They were also very happy to hear that they had a sister.Now that the brothers were working in the forest and Leyla was doing the housework and they were living happily together.
As time passed,Leyla was growing up and getting more beatiful each day.A young boy passing by saw Leyla and fell in love with her.He wanted to get married with her but he was afraid of her brothersOne day,while he was thinking about what to do deeply,he et a neighbour.She asked what he was thinking.The young boy told about his thoughts.The neighbour said it was an easy problem to solve.She got on her brom and flew away.She stopped in front of Leyla’s house.She pretended she was a salesperson.She started to call out to sell the ribbons,buttons,scissors etc.Ýn her basket.Leyla looked out of the window in curiousity.
“What are you selling?”she asked.The salesperson said“I have got beautiful buttons,ribbons etr.Would you like to buy some?”and she called her out.As soon as she got out of the house,she convinced her to go to the young boy’s house.They had a wedding and got married that day.
When her brothers arrived home in the evening,they couldn’t find Leyla.They looked every where but they couldn’t find her.They went back to their hut desperately.
After a long time,Leyla had a daughter.When her daughter became 7,she taught her a game with a spoon.She was supposed to say“Play my spoon,play.For the sake of my seven uncles.”While dropping the spoon on the ground.
One day while her uncles were going to the shops,they met a cute little girl on the way.They liked her very much and asked her to play her game.As soon as the little girl dropped her spoon on the ground and said“Play my spoon play.For the sake of my my seven uncles”they understood that she was their own niece.To understand better,they toldher“Go to your mother and bring us seven pieces of bread with seven pieces of cheese from her.”The little girl went home and repeated those words to her mother.Her mother told her daughter to go and take her seven uncles there.She said “I’m preparing thier bread.Tell them to come and eat their bread and cheese her.”The little girl went and took her uncles to their house. When Leyla saw her brothers she was very happy.She hugged all of them one by one.They had a wonderful time together.Later,on the uncles went back to their house happily. Every time they go town,they visited their sister and passed good time together.On the other hand,their mother passed away in sarrow because she couldn’t get any news neither from her sons nor from Leyla. |
