Technical Issues

Piggybacking is the term used for using a wireless network to access the internet without the owner’s own explicit permission or knowledge. While harmless at first sight, there are a few ways whereby this is harmful to the owner of the wireless network intentional or otherwise, such as downloading of illegal material, child pornography being one of them. If someone used Mr.A’s wireless network and downloads child pornography, the police will only be able to track down Mr.A and he will be charged with possession of it. More obviously and less malicious is the simple stealing of bandwidth, if you use the internet connection of Mr.A, he will have less bandwidth for himself.
