For instance, hackers may create a wireless honeypot which is an access point that is set up to be identical to the retailer’s wireless LAN. Hackers can set then amplify the signal to attract authorized retail clients to attach to the honeypot access point instead of the authorized retail wireless LAN and collect their username and password information. After collecting all the necessary information, the hacker can then log-in (i.e. break in) to the retailer’s network like an employee.
