| Global Positioning System (GPS) is a system that allows you to track the position of a device that utilizes this technology. Used in GPS navigation devices, it allows you to find your own position anywhere in the world making clumsy paper maps a thing of the past.
GPS started out as a satellite-based navigation system created by the U.S. Department of Defense. While GPS was originally intended to be used primarily in the military, the U.S. government made the system available for civilian use in the 1980s. GPS works regardless of weather conditions, anywhere in the world and accurate to about 3 meters!
