| Theoretically, all electromagnetic waves can be used to transmit energy wirelessly. Microwaves in particular are potentially suitable for transferring energy at a high efficiency rate, allowing solar satellites to harness the energy from the sun and transmit it to receiver station on the earth.
Using radio waves however it is possible to power wireless devices with this energy transmission, tests have been conducted and reaching up to 45% efficiency as a result. While the range of these devices are quite limited it would make a recharging electronic appliances a lot more convenient. Imagine leaving your phone or laptop in your room only to have it charged without using a single wire.
