The

emphasizing on the ill treatment of the poor by the magicians. Sonea

The
book is about Sonea's struggle to be an accepted part of the
Magicians Guild as a novice. This is made more difficult by Regin,
whose sole motive in life seems to be to trouble her and outdo her
at every possible occasion, and the burden of keeping a dark secret
