Introduction to Angklung

Angklung is a traditional musical instrument which consists of two or three bamboo tubes associated to a frame, those tube size is different each other ,forming a small one and the other larger. These tubes will produce a beat if the framework of these angklung wiggled or shake. There are a number of tone, beat or pitch that can be produced from the angklung like Diatonis, Pentatonis , Pelog, Salendro (traditional tone from Sundanese culture).

Angklung only have 1( one ) tone in each one instrument, so for playing Angklung it is conducted by a group of several people (depending on music),if the arrangement is a complex song it will need more tone to played,it mean more Angklung and exactly more players will needed. it is the element of cooperation players of Angklung role , if many people play a song, the players will be trained to be sensitive for the music intellect , song and every part of the sound or a beat, indirectly Angklung music instrument teach the team that whose play it because they would be felt the importance of joint cooperation between the group members who hold a different tone which played together can produce a beautiful music and the harmony.

Angklung is very easy to play, does not require expertise or even a special talent in the field of intellect music, to play angklung we just needed to shake it with slow power or more stronger, it depend with the beat which we needed in the songs , but the concentration is needed for play Angklung because someone needs to convulse those angklung if the tone which we played that need to play.

The unique in the ease of playing Angklung is what makes so many people interested with Angklung. wonder if it is often called “Angklung is an Education and Friendship traditional music instrument” by some people in various corners of the world who have known about the Angklung, especially Indonesia. because of the elements of education, patience, cooperation, concentration, and harmony between modernity and traditional, which is always close to nature if we play the Angklung.
