The City of Open Doors

Manizales is known as the city of the open doors due to the hospitality that its people have to receive to all the visitants and especially because every person who meets it would like to stay and live here. It’s also known as “Manizales of my heart” (Manizales del alma) because of a song called “pasodoble” related to bullfighting, which sing that expression. In Manizales there are many important Institutions and enterprises dedicated to the coffee activity and because of the big volume of coffee produced there; that’s why Manizales is also known as the world capital of coffee .



			Manizales is located in a privileged place: In the centre of a country called Colombia, in a very mountainous region; that’s the reason why we can find in the city and it’s countryside a large variety of trees, flowers, birds, brooks, mountains and hills. Streets that go up and down…… and the great Snowy volcano of “El Ruiz”
To live among mountains as we do in Manizales, let us have a climate that changes easily. Some days are sunny, some others very rainy and some nights are stormy. When Pablo Neruda, the well known poet, meet the city said that Manizales was the factory of sunsets in America.
