| Sunlight is the power behind solar energy.
Solar means
sun in Latin. Solar power is created by changing
sunlight into electricity. Solar
power uses panels which are huge, smooth and even. Solar panels have
little solar cells in each one. Solar panels are installed on roofs tops. Solar power provides the core energy on
Earth. Solar power gives you two things, heat and
power. Solar energy is clean energy. Using solar energy for many of homes will mean less electricity used from usual sources such as utility companies. There are different kinds of solar power. This power includes space solar power, sea solar power and photovoltaics. Sea solar power uses a specific technology which is OTEC. It stands for Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion. Solar power helps our communities and neighborhoods by decreasing harmful green house gases. Scientists and engineers have been developing solar energy for decades. Sometimes the rate of progress has been stalled because there were other sources of energy that were readily available. Now that the world faces soaring energy costs and threats to the environment, perhaps solar power will be an option that is chosen more often. Resources:
