Super-efficient
homes
are houses that save more energy than regular homes. Super-Efficient
homes save
up to 10% to 30% in energy compared to standard housing. It is not
always neccessary to go to extreme measures such as generating your own
energy to improve energy efficiency in homes. The systems in our homes
that consume the most power are air-conditioning and heating. There are
many strategies we can use to lower these costs such as programmable
thermostats.
Insulation plays a big role in reducing energy costs. Another method to
create an energy-efficient home is to use frozen smoke as a way to
insulate homes. This frozen gas is marketed as Aerogel and was created
by an
American
chemist. It is produced by removing water from silica gel and
substituting the water
with a gas. When the process is complete, frozen smoke is 99%
gas. It has been reported that frozen smoke has a reputation for
being the planet`s least heavy
solid.
One more interesting fact about frozen smoke, is that it is composed of
the substance that makes glass but it is substantially
less solid. At this time, Aerogel is somewhat expensive to produce.
However, hopefully, this product will become affordable for the
general public to purchase soon. By providing outstanding
insulation in homes, this product can offer a resource that contributes
to energy-efficient homes.
