Soccer in England

In England is where everything actually begun. It all started in 1863 when one association split in half, the one half became the rugby association and the other became the first football association on the world. Just a couple years later the first big tournament was started. ("soccer history")
Soccer is the national sport of England, so almost everybody likes to play it. England is the country with the most soccer clubs on the world, around 40,000 registered clubs in many different leagues, which is 11,000 more than other countries. ("Football in England")
The highest and the best league is the Premier League. In this league a total of 42 clubs have competed, but only of them have won the title. It was Manchester, Blackburn Rovers, Arsenal and Chelsea. These clubs are some of the most famous and most popular clubs all over the world. ("Premier League")

The British don’t just like to play football they also like to watch it either at home or in a stadium. But around 1975 till 1990 a serious problem had surfaced after some clubs became rivals and the national team couldn’t even qualify for two world cups. The rise of football hooliganism marred the game. This time was very brutal, almost every game there were big fights with the fans, and then in 1989 a group of Liverpool fans (club) killed 56 of another club. Hooliganism are still there in England but it’s not that brutal and serious any more. ("History of English football")
Overall England is the country of soccer.
