Soccer in Canada

Soccer is a very popular sport in Canada. One of the first recorded games was played in Toronto in 1859. In 1876, they played their first game with the modern rules. Dominion Football Association was formed in Toronto, 1877, to have competitions with the locals.
The Western Football Association (WFA) was formed in 1880, and made soccer become huge throughout southern Ontario. WFA started to send players to New Jersey to play indoor and outdoor games against the American Football Association. In the first game, Canada defeated the United States until they played them a year later and the American won. Teams and organizations kept forming throughout the years.
