Soccer Around the World

Soccer is a popular sport around the world and is prevalent in most countries. Throughout the world, there are many different associations of soccer that together form FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association). In Africa, the soccer association is called CAF. It is comprised of 55 countries including Egypt, Kenya, and Tanzania. Each country then has its own list of soccer clubs found in that country. For example, Tanzania is part of CAF and has 14 clubs within the country (List of top-division football clubs in CAF countries).
There are other organizations around the world besides CAF. In Asia, there is the AFC. It’s made up of 46 countries that also include their own clubs. In some countries, the clubs are broken up into separate leagues. In Sri Lanka, the clubs are divided into two segments: Segment A and Segment B. Segment A is comprised of 9 clubs, whereas Segment B is only comprised of 8 (List of top-division football clubs in AFC countries).
Italy, Germany, and England are all part of the soccer association UEFA along with 50 other countries. Just like countries that form CAF and AFC, the countries encompassed in UEFA are divided into clubs (List of top-division football clubs in UEFA countries).
Both northern and central America as well as the Caribbean establish CONCACAF. This organization includes 40 various countries including the United States, Jamaica, and Mexico. In Guyana, there are many leagues: Bartica Football Association Banks Milk Stout Division One, Berbice Football Association Banks Milk Stout League, East Bank Football Union Splashmin’s Senior Football League, East Coast Demerara League, EPFA Banks DIH Milk Stout League, Georgetown Football League, and Upper Demerara Super League (List of top-division football clubs in CONCACAF countries).
The South American soccer league is known as CONMEBOL. It’s comprised of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela (List of top-division football clubs in CONMEBOL countries). There are some countries that are not members of FIFA. These include the Aland Islands, Kosovo, Nauru, and Saint-Pierre and Miquelon (List of top-division football clubs in non-FIFA countries).
