WHAT
ARE MYTHS?!?!!?
Myths are a set of beliefs, usually dealing
with supernatural elements which have an imaginary existence. A system
of myths which are inter-connected with each other is known as mythology.
The Ancient Greek and Roman civilizations had their own particular and
similar mythology, like many other parts of the world.
In ancient times, when science had not progressed to such an extent when
there was an answer tio everything, people had their own ideas about how
things came into being and worked, so out of their beliefs they evolved
gods and goddesses assigned to do particualr tasks in the governing of
the world. Greek and Roman mythology also consisted of mythical creatures
which had special powers and would sometimes assist the gods, and heroes
of their times, while some would be monsters, wreaking havoc.
However, the gods and goddesses were imperfect
in some aspects, while some of the mortals became heroes because of their
capabilities and special powers or they were assisted by the gods. Many
famous events involving famous Greek and Roman heroes, mythical creatures,
and gods and goddesses, took place in Greek and Roman mythology.
Elements of Greek and Roman mythology appear in art and literature, and
these beliefs have persisted till today, majorly because they have been
able to fascinate audiences over the ages.
