| DJ Clive Cambell also
known as "Kool Herc"is a Jamaican
born man credited for originating hip hop music. He built upon the Jamaican
tradition of toasting, or boasting unprepared poetry (on the spot/freestyle)
and saying it under music. DJ's would tap into power lines to attatch their gear and would perform at local areas such as basket ball courts and this historic building claimed to be "where hip hop was born" 1520 Sedgewick ave. Bronx New York. Equipment used to make such music beats include speakers, turntables, and microphones. Herc also contributed to the creation of break beats repeated for all night parties. DJing used hard funk, rock, and records of Latin percussions. |
