Welcome to Earth: Project Protection Web Site

Wendell Barry once said, “The earth is what we all have in common.”

The Earth is constantly changing and technology is becoming more advanced every day. Though this benefits us, major problems are also being presented to the world. Cars, factories, fossil fuels, and several other factors are rapidly contaminating our world by producing greenhouse gases. Although a lot of damage has been done, we can still correct the problems and prevent more devastation.

Using alternate energy sources and taking small efforts within our households like using energy-saving light bulbs can help limit the contamination of our atmosphere. It is our responsibility for all of us together to fix what we have done.

Our goal for this website is to use the technology we have today to avoid further damage on both a large and small scale. We can do this by:

: Relacing Fossil Fuel
: CO2 Conversion Methods
: Prevent of Deforestation
: Carbon Capture and Storage
: Building Energy-Efficient Homes

What is CO2?

Carbon dioxide, or CO2, is the colorless gas end product in organisms that obtain and process energy. With its many instances in photosynthesis, food production, fire suppressant, factory production, and many more, CO2 has a major role in general society.

What's the problem?

Carbon dioxide is what we know as a greenhouse gas. Greenhouse gases are atmospheric gases that emit harmful radiation into our earths ozone layer. This radiation slowly eats away at our ozone layer causing many environmental problems such as climate changes, health hazards and nasty long term effects on all environmental instances of the planet.

Causes of Excess CO2 from Human Activities

Fossil Fuel Combustion
: Power Plant Waste
: Automobile Exhaust
: Commercial and Residential Heating
: Industrial Processes

Deforestation
: Removal of large forest area is responsible for more than 20% of all greenhouse effects
: Deforestation also accounts for one-third of all carbon dioxide emissions

Increasing Human & Animal Population
: Population increase solely results in a direct increase of both fossil fuel combustion and deforestation resulting in an overall increase in carbon dioxide emissions
