How can you show your parents and teachers that you’re not always just fooling around with technology?

Show your parents what you’re doing; show them that internet is not only for funny videos and nonsense, that you can easily find helpful videos for your needs. If you needed to know how to do something, it is almost guaranteed that if you search for it you will find it on the internet. Show your parents that the internet is a reliable resource in everyday life and it allows you to do your work smoother and faster. Think if you wrote a paper by hand on a piece of paper, you’d have to correct and edit it yourself, but with word on a computer you have spell check and it shows you when you’ve made a grammar mistake in your paper. Which in a regular paper you might miss mistakes.

Also, when you get a chance in class to use technology, don’t prove that the teachers are correct about how you use the technology. Don’t attempt to fool around with it and show them that the technology actually does get you involved and interested in the subject at hand. If you show them that the technology will help in class, it is much more likely that it will be integrated into your curriculum more often. But if you just fool around and not pay attention than your teachers will go back to the “old school” method of learning which is just read read read read, notes notes notes notes.

Technology is very useful and maybe your parents don’t know what they are doing and if the kids of today are more familiar with technology maybe you could help your parents out. The more you help the more freedom with the computer you will be given, this goes for school too. If you show your parents and teachers that you can be trusted than you will be granted more freedom.
