· Talk- Using aim you can chat with your friends for as long as you want. It is like texting or talking on the phone except that you are typing. · Profiles- You can put in some, but not all, information about yourself so that your friends can figure out how you are feeling or what your favorite things are. They can also leave you a message that you can get later. · Away messages- Putting up an away message will tell your friends that you can’t talk to them right then. Ex. “I’m away from my computer right now,” or “I’m eating dinner, be back on later!” · Chat rooms- Chat room let you talk to more than a single person in one IM window. Talking to your friends in a chat room lets you tell all your friends the same thing at once, instead of having to type it multiple more times. It also allows you to talk with many people and engage in a group conversation. This can be useful if you were doing a group project and you couldn’t get together. You would be able to talk to everyone at the same time and everyone would see the same message. It would be as though everyone was in the same room. · Also, IM can be accessed through your cell phone. If someone is online, and you don’t have access to a computer, then you can IM them from your cell phone. This is helpful when you need to tell a friend something or you need to talk to them. Even though it’s AIM on the cell phone it is still the same and you can enter everything that you normally could on a computer. |
