The city's main commuter train station, a hospital, a restaurant and two hotels - locations used by foreigners as well as local businessmen and leaders - were among those places caught up in the violence.Commandos have surrounded the two hotels, the Taj Mahal Palace and the Oberoi Trident, where it is believed that the armed men are holding dozens of hostages. In other developments:• Fire crews evacuate people from the upper floors of the Taj Mahal Palace, where police say a grenade attack caused a blaze• The head of Mumbai's anti-terrorism unit and two other senior officers are among those killed, officials say•

Multiple sites in the Indian city of Mumbai were attacked with bombs and gunfire in a coordinated terror attack that began on November 26, 2008, and lasted for three days. The attacks killed 179 people, including at least 22 foreigners.Over 300 injuries were reported.

The Pakistani government has announced that Zarrar Shah and Zaki ur-Rehman senior members of Lashkar-e-Taiba, have confessed to being involved in the attacks. For the first time Pakistani government officials are admitting that at least some of the planning for the attacks took place on Pakistan's soil. However, government officials are also pointing to non-state entities that provided logistical support during the attacks.A formerly unknown group that calls itself the Deccan Mujahideen has claimed responsibility for the attacks. However, some authorities believe that it is a front group for another organization. The Indian government believes that a terrorist group from Pakistan, possibly affiliated with Pakistani militant groups Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, both of which have ties to Al Qaeda, may be responsible.

Indian authorities believe that the attackers entered Mumbai via the waterfront near the two hotels. A fishing trawler is being held for investigation. As the rampage progressed, gunmen opened fire at several locations throughout the city, including a crowded train station, a popular restaurant and several luxury hotels. The terrorists apparently sought victims with British or American passports.

26/11/08/Mumbai Blast: nobody is going to forget this date; very shocking and horrifying incident. Nobody expected the plans executed. In my last post about blasts, I indirectly mentioned war however after knowing the reality I am giving it a second thought. Well, we just can't attack any country like that.
